Board and Movement

The arena is a hexagon built from 1-inch hexes, sized for 3D printing, with total hex count following 3n^2 - 3n + 1 for side length n.

Table setup

Board geometry

The board is itself hex-shaped — a hexagon made of hexes — with side length n hexes at 1-inch hex size.

Total hexes = 3n^2 - 3n + 1

Printed board sizes

Fit is measured against a Bambu X1 Carbon plate (256 x 256 mm, roughly 250 mm usable). Side length is capped at n = 5: n = 6 (91 hexes) was dropped — it exceeds a single plate and playtests as oversized for melee pacing.

Side length (n) Total hexes Approx. span (point-to-point) Single-print fit
3 19 ~127 mm Yes
4 37 ~178 mm Yes
5 61 ~229 mm Yes, tight

Map size by player count

Proposed mapping (playtest to confirm):

Players Side length (n) Hexes
2 3 19
3–4 4 37
5–6 5 61

Every map is a hexagon of hexes, so there is always exactly one center hex.

Example boards

Drawn from the board spec (not AI-generated): exact hexagons of sandy tiles with the reddish center hex marking the prestige hex.

n = 3 — 19 hexes, 2 players:

Arena board, 3 hexes per side

n = 4 — 37 hexes, 3–4 players:

Arena board, 4 hexes per side

n = 5 — 61 hexes, 5–6 players:

Arena board, 5 hexes per side

Movement

Basic movement comes from stock cards in every player's deck — see Cards and Deck. Movement costs a second like any other card play. Whether changing facing also costs a second is unresolved — see Combat and Facing.
